I am definately not the best family builder ever so there is the time to consider too. Special Equipment or seldom used families (dock levelers, medical tables) I'll try to find a family since A) I know jack and squat about them and B) it isn't something we use often. My 2 cents is I will always try to build something on my own if I know that gets used over and over.I've pulled a few good ones from RevitCity but in general they are. I would say they are much better than things in Revticity, but then it is still false advertising, just buyer beware!!!

Has anyone experienced this? If so, I'd like to hear your thoughts. I guess it might still save me "some time" but I think I got what I paid for (.99 cents worth of families) BUT, all I am trying to say is that they definitely are false advertising, it LOOKS good, it will do rendering just fine, but it is not the BEST families they claim they are. Once I start checking them out, one of them doesn't even work in 2012!!! :banghead: There seems to be some issue with join/cut geometry or something that Revit 2012 doesn't like! and I almost spent an hour average just to clean them up so that I can deploy them for the use of office. Long story short, I was it thought it was ok to spend a few bucks to buy their furniture so I don't have to build it from scratch, and I ended up buying 16 of them for the company. There are also unwanted object styles that are in the family (CAD imported junk) that they don't bother to delete them.

the downloaded version of the file is over 2M and after deleting the un-neccessary nested families, it came down to 980k. There is no masking region/symbolic line to replace the plan view, so it will look horrible (see image) and there are also nested families that weren't used in the host family and it just increase the file size for nothing. (I try not to mention the name of the site but you probably know which one I am talking about if you have seen it from Steve's site Revitoped.)Īnyway, I downloaded the Barcelona Chair (the free one) and thought it was pretty nicely made, but then there are a number of issue worth mentioning. Did anyone visit this website that sells Revit furniture families for 0.99 cents? They have been advertising how great their families are and they even throw out a free one for people to download it for test drive.
